Dr. D Y Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU) Pune ,Unit of Bioethics, UNESCO Chair in Haifa had organized an International Webinar Biothics in COVID-19 Pandemic.

The dignitaries who graced the events were Dr. (Mrs) Bhagyashree P. Patil, Dr. N. J. Pawar, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, Dr. Suryakar ,Registrar, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune Dr. Amarjit Singh, Principal Director & CEO, Dr. (Mrs) P. Vatsalaswamy, Director Academics and Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, Dean. The event was attended by Heads of various Departments, faculty members and students of various colleges of DPU ,It was attended by approximately 400 people from across the globe.

The webinar started with a warming inaugural speech by Dr. (Mrs) Bhagyashree P. Patil, Pro-Chancellor, D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune. She had highlighted contribution of Dr.D Y Patil Medical College,Hospital and Research Centre,Pimpri ,Pune during current pandemic of COVID-19. Dr.Shailaja Mane, Secretary, D PU Unit of Bioethics UNESCO Chair in Haifa presented a short report on various activities conducted by DPU Unit of Bioethics since its establishment.

Dr. Russel D’Souza , Director of Education, International Programme UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, Haifa, enlightened all with the importance of Planning and preparation for future in the sector of Public Health Disaster Planning. He highlighted that with a better and advance planning and necessary steps we can overcome any crisis .Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, National Head of the Academic Programme of Indian Programme, Department of Education, UNESCO Chair in Bio-Ethics Haifa enlightened about COVID and Bioethics. He enhanced knowledge and the way of thought process towards the current pandemic with his great philosophical talk and fluent oratory skills.

Prof. Gerhard Fortwengel ,University of Hannover, Germany had an excellent talk about the learning which can be taken from the current global crisis and lesson to move forward with a positive attitude. Col Dr. Derek DSouza ,Professor , Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research,Pune attracted attention towards the silver linings in the current pandemic. He had shown the way in between such global crisis to look for the positive aspects and filled all with positive thoughts and hopes. Dr. Mary Mathew Head, Indian programme of UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, Manipal, India, discussed about the Indian Program of Bioethics, UNESCO.

The webinar was concluded with vote of Thanks from Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, Head, DPU Unit of Bioethics.

This international webinar was highly appreciated by all attendees and dignitaries including students.
